GamesThatGive is a small team of like minded individuals who have banded together to bring fun to fundraising! Learn more about us here!
The GamesThatGive team believes that each and every person wants to help others, to volunteer, to make a difference. But in today’s busy 24-hour connected world it is more difficult than ever to find the time, or money, to contribute and give back in a meaningful way.
The good news, however, is that current advances in technology and changes in our lifestyle, while part of the problem, also hold the solution.
We believe that there is a new kind of fundraising on the horizon. One that utilizes existing behavior because people are busy, and social networks, and mobile devices because people want to keep in touch, but are constantly on the go, and cause marketing because people have made it clear to corporations that that want to know how corporations are helping their communities.
GamesThatGive is commited to creating a new way to contribute to the causes that mean the most to you, and to make it fun and easy, so that it just feels good!
Yes. GamesThatGive is a for-profit corporation that donates 70% of its ad revenue, not our ad profits, but our ad revenue, to the charity that you select. When we started GamesThatGive, we thought long and hard about being non-profit or a for-profit, and in the end, after a lot of analysis and modeling, it became clear that to achieve our goal of having the most impact possible for our charity partners, it made sense for us to be a for-profit.
Yes. Seriously. Thanks to you playing and donating, and telling your friends!
Why yes we are! Please play GamesThatGive on Facebook, write about it on your wall, message your friends about it, become a fan of our application, and have fun playing and donating on Facebook!

Because casual games are huge, and fun! In the United States alone, over 130 million people play casual games every month!
GamesThatGIve is funded by small group of like-minded individuals who share our vision of the world. To date, GamesThatGive has raised $150,000.
We will be looking for additional funding beginning Fall 2009. If you are interested in learning more about investing in GamesThatGive, please contact Adam.
We look at recommendations from friends, and the most popular games of all time, and ones that we have fun playing!
For example, Solitaire is the most opened application of all time on Windows XP, so we knew we had to develop a great version of Solitaire. And Gems is a type of game (swap and match) that Chris Bell, our COO really enjoys playing, so we developed that one too.
Our goal is to add at least one new game each month.
We will continue to add popular casual games, redesigned to include the GamesThat Give features. Over time, we will also begin to develop original games and welcome game submissions from the community.
Sometimes. It kind of depends on the game. Big Hollywood blockbuster games are expensive to make because of the big teams that need to design and develop the high tech graphics, intricate plots and themes, and not to mention the advertising to get the word out.
However, casual games (simpler games) are less expensive to make because big teams aren’t required, and because better communication within the game design and development communities allow us to leverage existing engineering work so we can focus on creating super fun and polished game experience, and not re-write all of our games from scratch, and at a reasonable cost! Good news for all!
We have partnerships with some of the biggest names in the non-profit and for-profit world, and it’s a paramount priority for us to stay up-to-date on the latest news and goings on in the technology and security world. In addition, we work very hard to make our games and website secure and reliable so that you can just sit back and have fun while you donate.
It’s really pretty simple. We charge sponsors to advertise in our games, and we take 70% of that money and give it directly to the charity that you’re playing for.
So the better you do at the games, and the longer that you play, the more you donate! 70%, always, of what our advertisers are paying goes directly to the charity that you’re playing for. That’s it. No catch. Guiltless gaming.
The public beta version of our website went live on July, 15th, 2009, and our public beta Facebook application went live on August 21st, 2009.
We look for charities that will not only benefit from the money we raise, but embrace the functionality of the website and Facebook application – organizations who understand the potential of casual games.
We also wanted to have a diverse group of charities represented on the site, so no matter who came to play our games, they would find an organization or an issue that they would be motivated to play for.
And lastly, we wanted to find organizations who believed in our concept of charitable video games, and were willing to help us grow the platform, by welcoming their audience, and by providing us feedback and guidance on how to continue improving.
GamesThatGive is committed to having a limited number of charities on the platform at all times – to ensure that every group participating has an opportunity to raise a significant amount of money.
As the platform grows, we will invite additional charities to join. If you’re interested in having your charity join GamesThatGive please email Adam and include:
1. The name of your charity
2. A link to your charity’s website
3. A brief description of your charity
4. Number of employees in your charity
5. Address, email and phone number
6. 2-liner explaining why you’d like to join
Nothing is required! We encourage our charity partners to help promote GamesThatGIve and direct their supporters to play games. Of course, it didn’t take long for the charities to realize that the more traffic they can drive on their own, the more money they can raise!
The idea for GamesThatGive came together over several years. Since August 2008, when the team came together, everyone has contributed to the development and roll-out our unique charitable fundraising concept and the various aspects required to make it a reality!
Please email Mike to get some more information. We will respond promptly!
